Welcome to the Ontario Folk Art Gallery!
Ontario is the most populous province in Canada and second only to Quebec in land mass. The geography of Ontario spans from a vast, thinly populated Northern territory to a Southern temperate region in the Great Lakes Valley. Ontario encompasses a wide variety of climates, terrain, cities and farmland. Artists who come from the isolated Northern regions may carve wild animals, or paint scenes of mining, logging, hunting and ice fishing. Artists from Central and Southern Ontario may create images of rural farm life, the railroad, orchards, and factory labour. Ontario has produced many important and documented folk artists.
