Welcome to the East Coast Folk Art Gallery!
Canada's East coast is comprised of four separate provinces: New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. These provinces are also often known as "Atlantic Canada". Many people think of fishing when they think of the East Coast, and while the fishing industry is historically important, manufacturing, farming, mining and forestry have also gained prominence in the region. Atlantic Canada has produced many wonderful folk artists who represent life on the East Coast in carved wood and paintings. From Canada's most celebrated folk artist, Maud Lewis, to new artists still producing work, Atlantic Canada is rightfully proud of their rich folk art tradition.
